SEBASTIAN CONTI

Biography

Conti’s interests span across photography, ceramics and installation. His recent, persistence with clay explores the conceptual and aesthetic tension points that emerge out of ritualised spaces. Conti seeks to adapt established ceramic techniques to create emotive spatial interventions. An emphasis on structure, composition, texture, and pattern reveals the dynamics between the material strength and vulnerability of objects.

Artist Statement

The markings on the surface of meta vessel mirror a series of clay objects that I created to study void space. These objects appear as small diagrams hovering over the surface of a pot which can be overlooked entirely unless examined closely. The void is of interest to me as an experience that is always there, always present, and always full.
